Aurora concert
LSO, St Luke's
Collaborating with the textile artist, Anna Long, we designed and screenprinted bespoke dance costumes for the Cordao de Ouro capoeira group.
The group performed with the Aurora Orchestra at LSO St. Lukes, the City of London Festival and Cambridge Corn Exchange this July.
Consisting of bold geometric shapes, there were print layers of 4 colours. The design imitated the structure of the human body.
Working apart as solo dancers and coming together as a group, they created a clash of shapes, almost like a camouflage.
This interrupting and intersecting of shapes derives from the idea of 'dazzle camouflage' also known as 'Razzle Dazzle' paintings, a camouflage paint scheme used extensively on warships during WW1.
