The Late Henry Moss

The Little, Southwark Playhouse

W14 Productions

This project started life as part of the James Menzies-Kitchin (JMK) Director's Award scheme in 2013. In this competition it was shortlisted to the final group of six. With some of the original team, it then progressed to being realised in The Little, at Southwark Playhouse.

Here, Sam Shepard's play written in 2000 explores themes of sibling rivalry and family secrets that recur often in his work. The sudden death of their alcoholic father Henry brings Ray and Earl back to New Mexico to discuss the future. Over a bottle of bourbon, Earl offers a convoluted explanation of his father's death, but a neurotic Ray remains unconvinced and begins his own ruthless line of enquiry.
